THE Zimbabwe Air Ambulance Emergency Service, which will soon receive four helicopters from the Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, is a good move that will improve the prospects of the travel and tourism industry.

To lower the amount of fatalities from traffic accidents, the Second Republic will establish an effective air ambulance system in Zimbabwe, staffing it with highly qualified physicians, engineers, dispatchers, and pilots.

President Mnangagwa demonstrated his commitment to provide free healthcare to the masses on Saturday by touring a Russian air ambulance factory and approving the company’s prompt establishment of a program in Zimbabwe.

As a member of the President’s delegation on the tour, Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry Barbara Rwodzi called the initiative a game changer for the tourism industry.

“The presence of air medical helicopters would enhance and augment two essential facets within the tourism industry.

She stated, “We plan to use them for commercial operations in Victoria Falls under the Mosi Oa Tunya company, and one will continue to serve as an air ambulance for any emergency in and around the Tourism City.”

Many visitors to Victoria Falls and the other wildlife regions ask us about our medical services; many of them end up canceling their excursions because they can’t be sure they’ll get the care they need while they’re there.

“Now that they know that, depending on the situation, they will be cared for in a timely manner to potentially save their lives, tourists will feel more confident when visiting Hwange National Park, Binga, and the remainder of the corridor.”

According to Minister Rwodzi, the commercial ones would increase Mosi Oa Tunya Company’s revenue creation. The company was established in 2014 but hasn’t been able to make enough money to develop the property it owns in the Masuwe Special Economic Zone for tourism.

“In due course, we will notify you about its operational details,” she stated.

Minister Rwodzi discussed the significance of Russia hosting the tourism indaba in Moscow for the first time, pointing out that Russian visitors are high spenders and business travel.

We are attending a tourism conference in Russia for the first time, and Russian visitors are also big spenders. Therefore, the purpose of this conference in Moscow is to deepen our understanding of the industry, discover the top African travel experiences for Russians, build rapport with Russian tourism buyers, and devise new approaches to entice Russians to visit Zimbabwe more frequently.

Air ambulances, according to Minister Rwodzi, will also entice major airlines to fly the Victoria Falls route.

“Although several large airlines, such as Fly Emirates, have sufficient business to establish a base in Victoria Falls, it is currently not feasible due to the lack of a large hospital that meets the requirements set forth by the firm.

“This suggests that Victoria Falls needs high-quality, effective medical facilities and services as soon as possible,” the speaker stated.
